Medical services and clinics

Below are the services and clinics available in your area.

Cervical smears

All women between the age of 20 and 65 should have a regular smear test every three to five years.

Cervical screening isn't a test for cancer; it checks the health of your cervix and can prevent potentially harmful cells from developing into cancer.

We send out appointment reminders to all of our patients to let you know when your next smear is due. If you have received an invite please don't ignore it, contact us today either using our online services system or by calling us on 01803 557458.

Our Torquay colleagues have put together a video to help explain the process of what happens at a smear appointment:

Child development

We send out appointments for regular checks and immunisations for pre-school children. This is to make sure that our doctors and health visitors can check that children are developing normally and that there’s nothing to worry about.

Contraception services

Our doctors and nurses can help guide you as to which hormonal or non-hormonal contraceptive would be best suited to you.

We offer long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC), including the coil, subdermal implant, and depo injection.

We can give advice as to which hormonal pill you may be best suited to take. If you are taking the pill, we require you to have an annual review, which includes a BP and weight, so we can safely prescribe these medications.

The POD in our reception can be used to measure weight and BP, and can be used during out opening hours, without an appointment.

Contraceptive coil and implant service

There are three GP partners who fit both coil and implants at Corner Place Surgery. These clinics run approximately once a month.

If you would like a long active reversible contraceptive we can talk you through the most suitable option.
