Waiting for your results
Information about how long results can take to be reviewed and what happens if further action is needed.
How long do results take?
When you have a test, you will usually be told how long to expect to wait for results.
Typical timescales are:
- Blood rest results: up to 10 working days to be received and reviewed
- X-ray and scan results: up to 15 working days to appear on your online record
If the GP feels further discussion or action is needed, we will contact you.
We are unable to routinely contact patients about normal results or results that do not require any further action.
If your test was arranged by a hospital, please contact the hospital directly for the result.
